I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who assisted in preparing for Hurricane Sandy in the event that it hit our area. Unlike our neighbors in Downstate NY, NJ and CT, we were very fortunate. We began making preparations on Thursday and continued through Sunday. I can’t thank everyone enough for their commitment and dedication to the Village of Menands, especially the Menands Fire Dept., Police Dept., DPW, Village Board, Schuyler Heights Fire Dept., Ladies Auxiliary, Village Office Staff, Pete Lattanzio, Diane Foley, Fred Cole and the management of Village One Apts. and the Schuyler Inn, for assisting in getting Menands ready in case of an emergency. I am also grateful to Town Supervisor Mahan, Albany County Sheriff’s Dept. and Albany County for providing continued updates to keep us informed. With the uncertainty of the storm track we had to prepare for the worst and I thank the residents of Menands for their patience and understanding during this critical time. Please keep your fellow New Yorkers and other communities in your thoughts and prayers as they struggle to pick up the pieces of their lives as we continue to enjoy the normalcy of ours.
