The Village of Menands is spearheading an economic development initiative to help improve energy efficiency and lower operating costs for village businesses with programs that are available through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and their Independent Contractor L&S Energy Services, Inc. of Clifton Park. L&S is offering technical assistance to help small businesses and not-for-profits improve their energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.

To get started, an objective NO-COST energy assessment will be completed for businesses or not-for-profits who qualify. The assessment will look at energy usage, lighting, heating, cooling, hot water systems and the building envelope (windows, doors, roof, insulation, etc). Once the assessment is completed a follow-up visit will be conducted to explain the results and discuss the cost of improvements, energy efficient technologies, choice of contractors, and low-interest energy efficiency project financing from NYSERDA. In addition, L&S will counsel small businesses and not-for-profits to help implement customer chosen improvements.
