The Village of Menands had a wonderful summer season, with dozens of local youth participating each day in our summer program. We thank Brianna Coughlin and Maeve for their hard work in organizing and running the program.
Our Summer Concert-in-the-Park series was also a great success, with only one concert needing to be moved to the Farmers Market Pavilion due to weather. A special thank you goes to Community Events Coordinator Meg Grenier for another rock-solid season. After 25 years of service in this role, this will be Meg’s final season as our event coordinator. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and look forward to seeing her enjoy the concerts as a spectator. Thank you, Meg!
Meanwhile, progress continues following the fire at the Menands Firehouse. We are slowly receiving permission to begin sorting and cleaning items that can be retained while continuing to inventory equipment and belongings that will need to be replaced. We also recently assisted insurance investigators in removing the Squad 6 vehicle from the building so it could be transported to a secure site for a detailed investigation. While the process takes time, we continue to move forward. We also believe we have identified a site for a temporary firehouse to serve our community while plans move forward for a permanent replacement. More details will be shared soon.
