Thanks to our residents in Menands’ South End for their cooperation and patience as we work through the Water and Sewer upgrades.

We understand it is disruptive, but it will be worth the effort when completed. The project is on a brief winter break. A schedule for this spring 2026 will be posted as we get into the new year and see what the weather looks like. Menandsny.gov/southendproject

As we turn the page on 2025, I sincerely hope everyone had a happy, healthy holiday season.

2026 will be a year of progress in Menands. Here is a list of some of the projects we are currently working on:

  • I am working with Clerk Handerhan to rewrite/update several large sections of our Village Code. We expect these revisions to move to PUBLIC HEARING in the next month or 2. This includes changes to our code that, in some cases, have not been updated for several decades. This is a significant effort.
  • I am working with the Menands Police Department to update our Village Traffic and Parking laws.
  • I am working with the Water Department to continue our work on lead water line replacements. “Get the lead out” – GLO is the project name. US EPA is helping with this effort.
  • I am working with the New Castle team and our engineers to plan our Spring restart of the South End Water/Sewer project so we get that project moving again.
  • I am working on a potential new manufacturing business on the Broadway corridor.
  • I am working with NYS DOT to address the condition of RT32 Broadway.
  • I am working with our engineers to plan ADA compliance and parking renovations at our 250 Broadway Village property.
  • I will plan to have the Nuisance Alarm law ready for PUBLIC HEARING by February 2026.
  • I am working with Community Events Coordinator, Meg Grenier, to finalize the Summer 2026 Ganser-Smith Park concerts and activities schedule.
  • I am working with the Advisory Group for the Polk-Switzer Park renovations team to continue some improvements to be implemented in Spring 2026.
  • I am continuing our negotiations with the Town of Colonie regarding our intermunicipal sewer services agreement. I am hopeful for a resolution soon.
  • I am working with our grant writer to obtain funding to replace our DPW salt storage shed.
