Mayor’s Corner – April 2026

Public Safety: Last year, the Governor and both the Senate and Assembly agreed to allow municipalities to reduce their local traffic speed limit to 25 MPH from 30. A professional engineering study must be completed to evaluate the impact and provide recommendations before the local government body votes to create a local law reducing this speed limit. I asked our Village Board to authorize this engineering study, and that report is now complete. They DO recommend our Village-owned streets be reduced to 25 MPH. I will vote to establish a new law supporting this change. Our neighborhood streets will be safer with this speed reduction. The Village will have a public hearing in April to get comments on this new law. The safety of our residents, children, and pets is absolutely worth this effort. I hope you agree.
