I am diligently working on our next budget, which I will present to the Board for consideration on March 17. Our goal is to provide appropriate funding to ensure that our departments have the necessary resources to fulfill their missions while maintaining reserves for long-term financial stability. At the same time, we remain committed to keeping property tax rates as low as possible. We continue to focus on strengthening our core constituent services: Fire, Police, DPW, Parks, and Community Programs. This year presents challenges, but I am confident that our budget will be both balanced and fair. Additionally, we will keep applying for grants to support municipal projects and enhance our buildings and infrastructure. In the 2024–2025 budget year, Menands secured $2.2 million in grant awards across our departments.

To reduce litter from trash and recycling blowing around our Village, residents are REQUIRED to use appropriate containers for regular garbage or recycling (except bulk items for special pickup). Placing trash or recycling out in loose plastic bags is NOT acceptable and may result in a violation by Code Enforcement. Please help us keep Menands clean.

Construction on the South End Water & Sewer project should start in early May. Please report any issues to the Village office.

NSH USA (Simmons Machine Tool) is starting construction of their new $8 million expansion. It is very exciting to see another Menands business grow on Broadway!
Residents will be moving into the new SoldierOn apartment complex during April. We welcome these new Menands residents to our Village. A dedication ceremony will be held on Memorial Day. Details to come.
