Minutes of the Budget Workshop held on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 Mayor Megan Grenier opened the Workshop at 6:00 P.M.

A Budget Workshop for Board Members will be held by the Board of Trustees of the Villageof Menandsin the MunicipalBuildingof such Village on March 7th, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. Such meetings are open to the public and are accessible to the handicapped. All are encouraged to attend or to present comments in writing.
The Treasurer reviewed the Budget for each fund with changes and answered questions.
During the workshop the Village Officials discussed the entire budget, including the paving options for the upcoming fiscal year. The 2012 – 2013 tentative paving schedule is as follows:
Upon completion of the infrastructure work for theSouth Lyons Avenuearea and included in its funding,South Lyons Avenue, East Kenmar Road,West Kenmar Road,Upland Road and Villa Roadwill be paved.
Additionally Clifford Road and Railroad Avenue will be paved funded out of the 2012 – 2013 Budget. When the above mentioned streets are completed, if the budget allows, the DPW foreman will discuss with the Village Board, continuing paving in the streets in the south end of the Village.
As we move forward with infrastructure work in the Roost Estates/Sage Hill Lane areas of the Village, incorporated in the funding for this project is paving. In a fiscally prudent manner this will allow for paving to begin in this area as the infrastructure work finishes instead of paving roads that will ultimately be affected by the necessary infrastructure projects.
Included in the 2012 – 2013 Budget is also funding for repairing streets as necessary that are not included in projects or scheduled for paving this year. [With the paving of the above mentioned streets and areas of the Village being completed as a whole, will allow the Village to return to a routine maintenance paving program to properly maintain our Village streets.]
Please note that this tentative schedule, and as with any construction project, is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
The Budget Workshop was adjourned until Thursday, March 15th, 2012 at 6:00 P.M.
Mayor Grenier reconvened the workshop Thursday, March 15th, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. the Treasurer reported the changes to the draft budget requested by the Board. The projected tax levy increase will be 1.5%. The preliminary budget will be presented to the Board by the Mayor at the Regular Board Meeting Monday, March 19th, 2012.
The Mayor closed the Budget Workshop at 6:15 P.M.
