A Budget Workshop for Board Members will be held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Menands on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 6:00 P.M.
The workshop will take place in the Boardroom at 250 Broadway, Menands, New York. The Budget Workshop held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, was called to order by Mayor Brian
Marsh at 6:00 P.M.

The Clerk Read the Notice:

A Budget Workshop for Board Members will be held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Menands in the Municipal Building at 250 Broadway of such Village on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. Mayor Marsh made general statements concerning the budget and asked for input from the Board.
The Board made the following suggestions:

  1. No Conferences this year
  2. Look for sponsors for Concerts in the Park
  3. Eliminating Ski Club Bus
  4. Selling the Village owned properties on Glenwood Road
  5. Special Pickup once a month
  6. Scale down Holiday & Special Events
  7. Cut down Police Overtime
  8. Look into Attorney fees
  9. See if Village can have excess to make Website changes
  10. Look into different options for server
  11.  Cut down people who receive Menands Monthly. Adding an opt out option.
  12. Change amount of times Menands Monthly is delivered
  13. Increasing Park Rental fees and possible opening up to nonresidents at higher rate.

Public Comments:

Resident Chuck Price made the following suggestions:
1. Look into possible funding to offset cost of Nonprofits in the Village
2. Look into cloud-based server

Resident Countney Jaskula made the following suggestion:
1. Working with Town for some shared services

Resident Mike Steurer:
1. It would be a mistake to turn the Police Department over to Colonie Police
2. The Village should look into inspections of rental properties every time there is a new
tenant.

Resident Mike MacKay:
Asked about what percentage of tax increase is being looked at? Discussion followed

Resident Paul Harbour commented:
1. Here’s another village perk they’re taking away. What’s next

Resident Steve Boulet commented:
1. I thought the rule was if you were doing your own work you can use special pick up but if you are hiring a contractor the contractor is supposed to get their own dumpster to haul away.

Hearing no further questions or comments the Mayor closed the Budget Workshop at 8:08 P.M.

Trustee Harbour made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Trustee Kalogridis.
