2015 Youth Summer Park Program

  June 12, 2015

It’s summer time again and I hope you’re ready for some exciting activities! I am very excited to start off another summer filled with fun. There is a detailed calendar attached as well as permission slips for both the park program and the field trips. * The permission slip for the park must BE FILLED out whether your child attends the park daily or once in a while. Please read them carefully and hand them to me, Brianna, at the park program. The park is a great place for children 5 and up to come meet new kids, hang out with friends, and play lots of games. Children four and younger will require their own parental supervision unless told otherwise. Our first concern is the safety for all children regardless of age. Please read the forms that are attached and know that it is very important for us to receive them back so we can account for every child, every day.

This summer the park program runs daily from Monday, July 6th to Friday August 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Ganser- Smith Park. Please do not bring your child before 9 a.m. The park program is subject to close under my discretion due to weather. Please know that all children are required to sign in and out whenever they attend the park program.

A quick reminder for everyone regarding daily activity: I would recommend that all children bring with them a drink, snack, sunscreen, and a towel. If you want to bring a plastic cup you can leave it at the park with your name on it so you have it every day. Please do not bring glass. Although there are days that we have snacks and drinks, they are not provided daily.

There are field trips planned this summer and as many of you know the spots go quickly. To reserve your spot on the bus you must hand in a permission slip (download below) and check made out to the Village of Menands. In the memo please put the field trip location and child’s name. Cancellation Notice Policy: If a substitute is found to take your place a refund will be issued. Otherwise, no refunds are granted. Children are given 1st priority on attending trips and then will be open to Menands residents. Children must be 8 years or older unless accompanied by an adult or otherwise specified. Look in the calendar for the dates and places we will be visiting this summer.

I look forward to seeing everyone this summer and as always if you have any questions, suggestions, comments, or concerns please feel free to call me at 469-7726 or visit me at the park.

*Important Note: There will be no bus transportation provided for swimming lessons. Parents are responsible for driving their child to and from swimming lessons.  Swimming lesson forms are distributed though the Town of Colonie and can be accessed  through the website www.colonie.org.The Village of Menands is not responsible for signing up your child for swimming lessons. Forms need to be dropped off directly to the Town of Colonie Parks and Recreation building. Your child must be 5 or completed Kindergarten in order to participate in swimming lessons.
